Sonata SEL

We at Lua are rather proud of the design features and technology built into our Sonata amplifier. Because each element of an audio circuit introduces its own sonic colorations, a simple circuit should be expected to yield superior performance. At Lua we have maintained a commitment to designing simple straightforward circuits for audio components. The Sonata employs only one coupling capacitor in its whole circuit, so that such component colorations are virtually absent. Furthermore, in the SEL- version of the Sonata we use one of the best capacitors money can buy. It is a double layer polypropylene- type with an outstanding performance in sound reproduction. But this is only one of the special features of the SEL - version of Sonata. Lua has painstakingly investigated the quality of all available brands of tubes. The results were very interesting. The differences in sound coloration and presentation of music of the tubes were as great as the differences in their prices. Also, the many combinations of preamplifier- and power-tubes resulted each time in a new "type of sound". A careful analysis of the results of this entire test have enabled Lua to identify those combinations that yield the most satisfactory results in terms of sonic character and musical presentation. The Sonata is the result of a significant improvement in system performance and convenience, combined with a high standard of extras such as:- solid metal remote control, tape- to tape function, mutecontrol and last but not least a 50 W/ Sine output with less than 0.5 % THD+N at 1 kHz. This is being the result of our own design of tube construction and a three-stage tube selection procedure. The inclusion of a perfect phono stage housed in an internal magnetically shielded enclosure gives the Sonata the finishing touch. That our Sonata includes a perfect phono stage in a separate antimagnetic cabinet gives it an outstanding touch. The settings for the phono stage are externally easily adjustable without the need to open the amplifier case. Provision is made for all types of MM, MC-low and MC-high output phono cartridges together with the provision for a four-step parallel capacitance adjustment. That our Sonata has a fully electronic fuse system protecting all tubes and each power tube separately and a warm-up stage for the power tubes for a soft start-up, speaks for it self.
